Lesson 1

LI: create a report

Using the subheadings listed in the previous lesson on Friday, children will then choose one of these subheadings to find out more information about. Children will then use the information they have found to create a paragraph which would fit into a non-chronological report.

Lesson 2 and 3

LI: research for information

Choose either North or South America to research. Think about what subheadings you will use for your non-chronological report to help you decide what information you will need to find.

Remember to take effective notes – bullet points and main ideas – not whole sentences!

Lesson 4

LI: use expanded noun phrases

Warm up – show an example of a noun, adjective, preposition, noun phrase.

Write down an example of an expanded noun phrase.

Remember an expanded noun phrase has two adjectives describing the noun and often a preposition too.

Eg. The small, brown dog ran through the field of flowers

Write either sentences or a paragraph including expanded noun phrases about the picture below.

Lesson 5

LI: create a plan

Use the information you have previously collected on North or South America to create a plan for you Golden book writing. Organise your information into sections and subheadings. See the attached plan template for help.
