Lesson 1

LI: To write an adventure story based on Augustus and his smile.

Remind your child of the purpose for their writing. – you are rewriting the story for an older audience.  You need to include more detail and description that will keep the reader engaged with the story.

Today we will follow our plan and begin our story. We are not writing a brand new story – we are making the original one better.

You must follow your plan – it will help to keep your writing on task.

Your writing needs to include;

  • A variety of sentence openers.
  • Expanded noun phrases – fire, orange, stripy tiger.
  • Conjunctions – and, but, so, yet, while, however, because.
  • Capital letters, full stops and commas.
  • Verbs – ran, crawled, skipped, danced.
  • Adverbs – carefully, slowly, swiftly, cautiously.
