Lesson 1

LI: To use ‘and’ to extend sentences.

Using the sheet in your pack join the clauses using ‘and’ to create sentences.

E.g.  Mom made a cake and she has put six candles on it.

We have used ‘and’ to join the clauses.

Lesson 2

LI: To join two sentences using and.

Using the sheet in your pack you need to find two sentences that are relative (linked) to each other then use ‘and’ to join them to create a compound sentence.

E.g.

Lots of people went to the party. They all had fun.

When we join them it becomes;

Lots of people went to the party and they all had fun.

Lesson 3

LI: To use ‘and’ to write longer sentences.

Using the word bank on your sheet write sentences to plan your own special party using ‘and to join your ideas.

Lesson 4

LI: To explore other conjunctions (and, but, or)

Read the sentences on your sheet out loud and circle the correct conjunction.  You will be able to hear which conjunction is most appropriate for the sentences.

Once you have identified the correct conjunction rewrite the sentences using the conjunction on the lines paper provided.

Lesson 5

LI: To use ‘and’, ‘but’ and ‘or’ to write compound sentences.

Using the sheet in your pack read the first part of the sentence based on a winter scene then use ‘and’, ‘but’ and ‘or’ to extend your sentence so that you can add more detail.

Lesson 1

Read the sentence then choose the correct conjunction to put in the gap.

Do not use any conjunction more than two times

Lesson 2

LI: To  use conjunction to extend sentences

Read the sentence on your sheet, using your own idea complete the sentences so that they make sense.

Then, write three sentences of your own using one of the conjunctions ‘and’, ‘but’ or ‘because’ to extend and add more detail.

Lesson 3

LI: To use co-ordinating conjunctions

Read the sentence then choose the correct conjunction to put in the gap.

Lesson 4

LI: To use conjunctions to create subordinate clauses

On your sheet read the sentences pick an appropriate conduction and complete the sentence so that it makes sense.

Eg.

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall while the King’s horses approached.

Lesson 5

Now it is time for you to show me how you can use a range of conjunctions.

Using the sheet provided, draw your own comic book superhero having an amazing adventure.  Below each of your comic, write sentence to describe what is happening.  Use the conjunctions provided to extend your sentences.  Tick each conjunction that you use as you are creating your sentences.

Lesson 2

LI: To identify the conjunctions in each sentence.

Underline the conjunctions in each sentence on your worksheet.  Next, write three sentences of your own using the conjunctions that you have identified.

Lesson 3

LI: To recognise and use different types of conjunctions.

Choose the correct type of conjunction from the box to complete the sentences.

E.g.

I went to bed really late so I am really tired today.

Lesson 4

LI: To recognise and use different types of conjunctions.

Choose the correct type of conjunction from the boxes to join the simple sentences to make a compound sentence.

Rewrite your new compound sentences on the paper provided.

E.g.

We enjoy watching films. We enjoy going bowling.

Becomes;

We enjoy watching films and we enjoy going bowling.

I went to bed really late so I am really tired today.

Now it is time for you to show me how you can use a range of conjunctions.

Using the birthday party sheet, write a paragraph to describe what is happening.

Extend your sentences using the conjunctions we have been looking at this week.
