This week in class we are looking at 2D and 3D shapes.
Go for a 2D and 3D shape hunt round your home. Use some of the templates in your pack to help you record your findings. How many circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, octagons, pentagons, hexagons can you find? can you identify their properties? Which is the most popular 2D shape? Why do you think that is?
Can you make some 3D shapes with some cocktail sticks and small sweets? Can you count the vertices, sides and faces?
You can compare your shapes as well by number of vertices, sides or faces? Where in your house or outside can you spot these shapes? Which is the most popular? Why do you think that is?
3D shapes - ask a grown up to help you find shapes in their cupboards. What kinds of shaped containers do your parents have? Do they have spheres, cubes, cuboids, squared based pyramids, triangular prism, cylinders and tetrahedrons? Can you make a chart with their properties?
