Phonics
We are pleased to let you know that your child can receive daily phonics lessons whilst schools are closed. Phonics is the way we teach children to recognise the sounds in words. It helps your child to learn to read and is an essential part of your child's education. Make sure your child is participating in an interactive phonics lesson every day (see below) as well as their paper activities in their pack. It is really important that you follow the lessons in order. Your child will need a pencil and paper to take part.
Thank you :)
This week we are learning about split digraphs. A split digraph also contains two letters (a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e, u-e) but they are split between a consonant.
Lesson 1 - 'a-e' e.g. make, cake, lake
Lesson 2 - 'e-e' e.g. Pete, Steve, even
Lesson 3 - 'i-e' e.g. like, Mike, smile
Lesson 4 - 'o-e' e.g. home, bone, cone
Lesson 5 - 'u-e' e.g. June, cube, prune
