The bar model on your overview sheet represents 7 x 8

7 x 8 = 56

The whole amount is 56

Today, we are dividing my 8 – we can do this by applying our understanding of multiplying by 8 – think about the fact families.

Think about how many 8s fit into 32.

Can you count in 8s to 32?

8, 16, 24, 32

32 ÷ 8 = 4

LI: To compare mathematical statements.

Today, we are comparing statements.  We have to solve the calculations before we can compare.  We are using the > greater than, < less than and = equal to symbols.

In your pack you have a comparing statements worksheet.

First,  solve 4 x 3 (4 x 3 = 12)

Next ,solve 2 x 6 (2 x 6 = 12

Both answers are the same so we would use an = symbol.
