What I wish my parents or carers knew…’: A guide for parents and carers on managing children’s digital lives
At Forestdale we take online safety seriously and children are taught how to be safe online in their Computing lessons as well as regular assemblies and discussions.
We have monitoring software in place at school, which is also used on laptops that we loan to your children to take home, in order for us to monitor the content children are using. If there are any issues these are raised with the senior management team.
Remember help is always available at school if your child is having any problems online.

Tips for staying safe online:
- Make sure you keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don't know asks to be your online friend you must ensure an adult knows about it.
- Know how to use the CEOP Button and how to report it to the CEOP Centre if you are concerned about someone’s online behaviour towards you.
Discord - The Gaming Chat Facility
Please be aware of a chat room application called Discord. This app is commonly used by gamers to talk to each other whilst gaming. Users can send direct messages to one another or listen in to larger group chats. Connecting with friends is easy - users can simply join an existing gaming server or send an email invitation to start a new one. Most significantly, you do not have to download an app to use it as it can be accessed via any browser and is free to use.

Free Parents Guide - 'ROBLOX'
As part of their #WakeUpWednesday campaign, National Online Safety have created a FREE guide for about Roblox, the online game which is dubbed by its makers as 'the largest interactive social platform for play'.
Their guide informs parents about the dangers associated with the platform and how they can reduce the associated risks, including, but not limited to: 'Chatting to Strangers', 'Griefing' and 'Cyberbullying', 'Online Payments' and 'Information Sharing'.
