What we ask from our families

❤️ Put your child first

Your child's safety, wellbeing and education should always be at the centre of our partnership.

Please talk positively about school, encourage your child to have a go, and help them understand that mistakes are an important part of learning.

📚 Support learning at home

Small things make a big difference.

We ask parents and carers to:

• read regularly with their child;

• encourage children to talk about what they have learned;

• support homework and home-learning activities;

• practise key knowledge such as number facts and spelling where appropriate;

• encourage children to be independent and take responsibility for their belongings and learning.

⏰ Make attendance a priority

Every day matters.

Regular attendance gives children the best opportunity to learn, develop friendships and take part fully in school life.

We ask families to make sure children arrive at school on time, every day they are well enough to attend, and to work with us if attendance becomes a concern.

💬 Talk to us

We want communication between home and school to be open, honest and respectful.

If you have a concern, please speak to us rather than allowing it to grow.

If something is going well, we would love to hear that too.

We will listen, explain and work with you to find the best way forward for your child.

Forestdale is a community.

We ask everyone to treat children, staff, parents and visitors with kindness, courtesy and respect.

We may not always agree, but we can always communicate respectfully.

We expect conversations with staff, both in person and online, to remain appropriate and respectful. We will always aim to model for our children the behaviour and relationships that we expect from them.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

Please tell us if you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child.

We also ask parents to help their children stay safe online, to understand the importance of appropriate online behaviour and to speak to school if they need support.

Celebrate their effort, progress, kindness, resilience and achievements – not just the things they find easy.

At Forestdale, we believe that achievement is about becoming the best version of yourself.

We love celebrating our children's successes with families through our Achievement Assemblies, events and wider school life.
