Looking smart, feeling proud

Our children look incredibly smart in their Forestdale uniform, and we want to maintain this high standard throughout the year.

Our uniform is designed to be smart, practical and affordable, and we ask all families to support us by ensuring that children come to school wearing the correct uniform each day.

We understand that the cost of school uniform can be a challenge for families. If you need support with uniform, please speak to the school office. We have a supply of clean, good-quality second-hand uniform available for families who need it.

Uniform can be purchased from Kids Essentials and selected local supermarkets.

Our school uniform

Children should wear:

• Black or grey trousers

• Black or grey skirt or pinafore dress

• Burgundy jumper or cardigan

• White shirt, blouse or polo shirt

• Black school shoes or black trainers

During the summer months, children may also wear:

• Red and white gingham summer dresses

• Black or grey school shorts

Footwear

For safety and practicality, footwear must be suitable for school and black.

Please do not send children to school wearing:

• boots;

• shoes with large heels;

• Crocs;

• open-toed sandals.

Jewellery, make-up and smart watches

For children's safety, only small ear studs may be worn in school.

Ear studs must be removed or securely covered with plasters for PE and swimming.

Children should not wear:

• smart watches;

• bracelets, necklaces or rings;

• false nails;

• nail polish;

• make-up.

These expectations apply throughout the school day, including during PE and other activities.

Helping children become independent

Starting school each day independently and confidently is an important part of growing up.

We encourage parents and carers to help children develop independence at home by practising skills such as getting dressed, fastening buttons and zips, putting on shoes and organising their own belongings.

Please also make sure that all items of uniform are clearly named. Jumpers and cardigans in particular can be difficult to return to their owners when they are not labelled.

PE Kit

Children should wear their PE kit to school on the days when they have PE.

Our PE kit is simple and practical:

• Black trainers

• White or burgundy T-shirt – no football shirts or large logos

• Black shorts

• Black or other dark-coloured joggers

Please ensure that PE kit is suitable for physical activity and allows children to move comfortably and safely.

A final reminder

Our uniform expectations are not about fashion or expense. They are about belonging, equality, pride and being ready to learn.
