This Job Description is subject to the current conditions of employment of teachers contained in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document 2017, the Education Act 1997, the requirement standards for Qualified Teacher Status, other current educational legislation and the school’s articles of government.

 

This job description may be amended at any time following discussion between the Head Teacher and member of staff, and will be reviewed annually if required.

 

Job Purpose:         

The teacher will:

  • Fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document
  • Meet the expectations set out in the Teachers’ Standards

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

General duties

  • Undertaking duties as required in the ‘Teachers’ Standards’
  • Displaying commitment to the ethos and success of the school.
  • Contributing to the school’s process of self-evaluation and development.
  • Being familiar with the school’s systems, structures, policies and procedures.
  • Actively supporting school activities where required, including attending educational trips, extra-curricular activities and parents’ evenings, which may require some out-of-hours availability.

 

Teaching

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons and sequences of lessons, to assigned classes, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work to ensure all pupils reach their potential.
  • Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
  • Teach high quality RE lessons as set out in the school agreed syllabus
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils
  • Being familiar with the ‘Special educational needs and disability code of practice and supporting pupils with SEND appropriately.
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
  • Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external tests

 

Monitoring and reporting

  • Being committed to the school’s target setting and monitoring systems for pupil progress.
  • Systematically assessing and recording pupils’ academic progress and other areas of their progress, and using the results to inform lesson planning decisions.
  • Monitoring pupils’ classwork and homework, providing feedback and setting informed targets.
  • Delivering assessments in line with the relevant frameworks including relevant national assessments.
  • Reporting on individual pupils’ progress to the headteacher and parents, as required.

 

Whole-school organisation, strategy and development

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices and procedures, so as to support the school’s vision, values and ethos
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
  • Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure co-ordinated outcomes
  • Provide cover, in the unforeseen circumstance that another teacher is unable to teach

 

Health, safety and discipline

  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils
  • Implement the school’s Behaviour Policy. Maintain good order and discipline among pupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
  • Ensure health and safety measures are adhered to
  • Understanding the school’s safeguarding policy and procedures and actively promoting pupils’ wellbeing and safety.

 

Professional development

  • Self-evaluating their teaching to improve effectiveness.
  • Take part in the school’s appraisal procedures
  • Take part in further training and development in order to improve own teaching and professional development
  • Where appropriate, take part in the appraisal and professional development of others.

 

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and carers, staff and representatives from outside agencies.
  • Liaising with the Senior Leaders and Subject Leaders to ensure teaching is delivered in line with school expectations and goals.
  • Working with the SENCO to ensure pupils with SEND are appropriately supported.
  • Working with the DSL and their deputies to ensure safeguarding is promoted.
  • Working with the designated teacher for LAC to support LAC and previously LAC.
  • Communicate in line with the school Christian values.

 

Working with colleagues and other relevant professionals

  • Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school
  • Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues
  • Meet deadlines set.

 

Personal and professional conduct

  • Uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school
  • Have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the school, and maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality
  • Understand and act within the statutory frameworks setting out their professional duties and responsibilities.

 

Management of staff and resources

  • Direct and supervise support staff assigned and where appropriate, other teachers
  • Contribute to the recruitment and professional development of other teachers and support staff where appropriate
  • Deploy resources delegated effectively.

 

Other areas of responsibility

  • Contribute to the design and provision of an engaging curriculum within a subject area.

The teacher will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.

Teaching Assistant

Salary  £28,598 - £34,434 pro rata. Actual £22,362 - £27,549pa

Forestdale Primary School is an inclusive one-form entry community school, where we work together to create a caring, vibrant environment in which every pupil can thrive.  We are seeking to appoint an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our team.

 

This is a permanent post commencing September 2026

32.5 hours per week, term time only

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support teaching across the school
  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including EHCP identified needs
  • Work with individuals and small groups to deliver targeted learning and intervention programmes
  • Assist the Class Teacher in the preparing and adapting learning activities
  • Be an integral part of the support team
  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusion, support pupil’s social and emotional development
  • Deliver personal care, where required, in line with school policies

 

You Will Have:

 

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Understanding of the standards expected for Teaching Assistants and undertake any training relevant to the position
  • Proven experience of working with pupils with SEN in a primary school setting and have good knowledge of a range of SEN
  • Experience of working with primary aged children
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ wellbeing

Permanent

Grade A - £24,796 - £26,824 pro rata (Actual salary £7,621 - £8,245)

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 15 hrs hours per week, Thursday and Friday Term Time Only

As Deputy Cook you will help deliver healthy meals to the children in our school working closely with the team to keep our kitchen running smoothly. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Preparing and cooking meals for pupils
  • Deputising in the absence of the Catering Manager
  • Supporting all aspects of kitchen service
  • Assisting the Catering Manager with the ordering of goods
  • Ensuring all food health and safety regulations are followed
  • Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy
  • Being mindful of dietary and allergen needs

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable team player with a passion for food. If you have good verbal and written communication skills, an in-date Food Safety Level 2 certificate, and a “can do” attitude, we would love to hear from you. Experience in a similar environment is desired.
