Music Curriculum

At Forestdale we want ALL children, including SEND, to be inspired to learn how to appreciate and play music.  All children play the Ukulele (in Years 3/4*) and the Flute (Years 5/6*).  By the end of Year 6 they are expected to be able to read and play from music notation.

*Year 4 and Year 6 Elective

Forestdale follow the National Curriculum for Music which can be found at:

The progression of children is mapped across year groups from Year 1 to Year 6 for the following areas: Singing; listening, memory and movement; controlling rhythm and pulse; exploring sounds, melody and accompaniment; control of instruments; composition; reading and writing notation; performance skills; evaluating and appraising; and vocabulary.
