Number 5!

We are learning all about the number 5.

Have a go at writing the numeral 5 as many times as you can!

Have a look around your house and collect groups of 5…

Use your items to split 4 into lots of groups:

2+3    4+1    1+1+1+1+1     5+0

With a grownups help you could have a go at writing the number sentences using the plus symbol.

If you are confident, your grownup could teach you the subtract symbol and how to use it with numbers up to five.

Have a go at representing 5 in lots of different ways:

Write the number 5

Draw 5 circles

Draw 5 lines – this is called a tally

5 dots on a dice

5 currant buns

5 little ducks

Use the links below to the BBC songs with the number 5 in them!

Make some number cards from 0-5, cut them up and have a go at ordering them. You can choose to stick them down or you can choose to do the activity lots of times. You can have a go at doing it BACKWARDS!

Can you think of any shapes that have 5 sides and 5 corners?

Can you find some items that have 5 sides and corners in your house?

It might be more difficult to find a 5 sided shape in your house than the other shape hunts that you have done.

If you manage to find one ask a grown up to take a picture of it to show us when you return to school.
