At Forestdale, we believe children should have a real voice in the life of our school. Leadership gives children opportunities to take responsibility, make a difference and help shape the community they are part of.

We want our children to understand that leadership isn't about being the loudest or having a special title. A great leader listens, helps others, takes responsibility, shows kindness and has the courage to make a difference.

Our pupil leaders

Throughout the year, children have opportunities to take on leadership roles across school. These may include:

Helping our school think about sustainability, caring for our environment and making greener choices.

📚 Reading Leaders
Encouraging a love of reading and helping younger children discover the enjoyment of books and stories.

🤝 Playground Leaders
Helping to make playtimes positive, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

🌟 House & Team Leaders
Taking responsibility, encouraging others and helping to build a strong sense of teamwork and belonging.

👋 Early Years Helpers
Supporting younger children and developing confidence, responsibility and care for others.

Leadership is for everyone

We want every child to have the opportunity to lead in some way.

Sometimes leadership means standing in front of others and speaking. Sometimes it means helping a friend, welcoming someone new, taking responsibility for a job or noticing something that could be made better.

We celebrate children who step forward, listen to others, solve problems and make a positive difference.

Our children, our school

We listen to our pupils because they are an important part of the Forestdale community. Through pupil voice, questionnaires, school council and leadership opportunities, children can share their ideas, raise concerns and help us improve school life.
