Run A Mile

Children at Forestdale have been taking part in a 'Run a Mile' initiative for the last 18 months to improve our fitness.  Children and staff go out daily for fifteen minutes and run/walk a mile!

'It is really fun and I'm getting fitter.'

'I try and beat the amount of times I run round the track every day.'

Road Safety Week

During Road Safety Week the children explored how they can remain safe either on their bikes or walking.  They discussed their awareness of potential hazards and what they could do to stay safe.

Poems by Year 5 on Bike Safety

To keep safe on our bikes

I need to be more aware of my surroundings

I need to have less blind spots on the road

I need a more colourful bike so I can be seen

I need to wear a helmet to protect my head

I need more cycle paths so I can ride safely

I need to look before I ride so I don’t get hit

I need more sensible drivers and less highways

I need a better bike!

To keep safe while we are walking

We want cars to reduce their speed

We want a reduction in dark cars and brighter colours

We want more stop signs

We want more lollipop people

We want to remember the safety code – Stop Look and Listen!

We want people not drive on paths or pavements

We want drivers to slow down when people are crossing

We want to encourage more people to wear bright jackets

We want car drivers to take their driving test at twenty!

We want to have brighter street lights

We want more zebra crossings

We want to stop adults drink driving

We want cars to have their headlights on all of the time

We want drivers not to go through red lights

We want less people parking on kerbs

Healthy Teeth

Children in Years 1,2,3 and 4 had lessons on how to brush our teeth properly and how to keep our mouths healthy.  Children received free toothbrushes and toothpaste thanks to Colgate!

Healthy Eating

Children planted a variety of vegetables and herbs to create a healthy meal for a competition at the Good Food Show!

Cooking at the City Kitchen
