Welcome to Year 2!

Year 2 Team

Hello Year 2 children, parents and carers.

We are Mrs Anyanegbu and Miss Needham and we will be working in Year Two this academic year.

We are going to have a great few weeks, with lots of new learning accompanied with fun activities!

Here's to a great half term!

At the beginning of each day, the children will have the opportunity to do a book vote where they can choose a book of their preference. The book that wins the most votes, will be read at the end of the day. The children will get familiar with lots of books by the same author which they can choose later to take home and share. We look forward to the children enjoying their story time as we explore a variety of books.

Homework will be set on a Friday and can be returned the following Friday, please.

Spelling tests will happen on a Friday morning and new spelling lists will be issued on a Friday evening.

Spelling shed work and SUMDOG work will be set for a Friday and will be live for a week, to give you and your children time to complete the tasks/challenges set.

Topic homework will be given out at the beginning of the half term and collected in during the last week. You can choose to complete this work at your own pace as long as all pieces of work are completed.

Reading Books

Regular reading at home is a key component to learning. Children will be given a reading book to take home at the start of the half term. When they read with an adult, they are expected to record this in their reading journal.

Please ensure you comment and sign reading record books. If your child is struggling with their book or do not enjoy it after attempts at reading it then let us know.

TOPIC HOMEWORK for Half Term 1:

PE days for Year 2

PE will be on a Tuesday and a Friday . Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on those days

PE Kit = black pumps, white T-shirt or school T-shirt and black shorts.

Remember earrings cannot be worn for PE and must be taped if you are unable to remove them BEFORE school
