  • Industrial Action

    Wed 21 Jun 2023

As you will no doubt have heard, the National Education Union has announced two days of strike action on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July.  As the situation currently stands, this will mean school will be closed for these two days – if the situation changes, I will let you know as soon as possible.

Wednesday 5th July is currently set to be the Transition Day in Birmingham when all current Year 6 pupils go to their new secondary schools for the day, and children at Forestdale meet their new teachers.  In light of the announced strike, and with being aware that previous strikes affected a large percentage of schools in Birmingham, council officers have decided to change the date of transition day to Wednesday 12th July 2023.

We understand that some secondary schools have planned additional transition days and we are awaiting confirmation from them as to whether these will remain the same – they may contact you directly.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me at the gate.
