  • Ofsted Inspection Tuesday 23rd February 2021 - Please read below

    Mon 22 Feb 2021

Ofsted is inspecting your child's school remotely and we would like to know what you think about the school. Your views about the school are important to us.

If you are a registered parent or carer of a pupil at the school (including pupils on sick leave or who are temporarily excluded), you can tell us your views about the school by completing Ofsted's online survey, Ofsted Parent View, at: www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk.

Ofsted Parent View asks for your opinion on some aspects of your child's school, including the progress made by your child, the quality of teaching, how the school deals with bullying and poor behaviour. It also provides a free-text box for you to make additional comments, if you wish. The inspectors will use the online survey responses when inspecting your child's school.

To register your views, you will need to provide your email address, which will be held securely. It will not be used for any purpose other than providing access to the online survey. Neither schools nor Ofsted will have access to any email addresses.

Please complete the online survey as soon as possible, preferably by 11am on the day of the inspection, as this will give the inspection team more time to consider your views.

  • BREAKING NEWS FROM ITN THIS EVENING - PLEASE READ

    Wed 03 Feb 2021

Coronavirus testing in parts of Birmingham will be 'significantly increasing' after cases of the South African variant were confirmed.

The city council said following 'extensive surveillance' of the virus, a small number of cases of the South African variant were found in the Frankley Great Park ward and parts of south Northfield.

They added they can’t be traced back to international travel.

The council is working closely with Public Health England and the national NHS Track and Trace team to curb any potential spread of this variant.

They are urging anyone over the age of 18, who is living or working in Frankley Great Park ward and part of south Northfield between Frankley, since 1 January 2021 to get tested, even if they are not showing symptoms.

This is what you can do if you live in the affected areas but currently have no symptoms:

    • Drive through testing is available at the St.Modwen testing site without an appointment from Thursday 3 February.

    • A further Mobile Test Unit will be opened on Friday.

    • The Council is also opening a series of designated sites for people to collect home testing kit to test at home and return to the same venue the same day for return to the lab.

    • They're also working with local businesses to make testing available for their staff in workplaces and employers are being written to with details of this this week.

This new variant from South Africa presents a new risk so it is essential that all adults in the affected areas takes up this offer of testing to help us contain the spread quickly. There is financial and practical support available for those who test positive and have to isolate and their contacts and it is vital we all play our part in controlling this new challenge.

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT VACCINES

    Mon 01 Feb 2021

The coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine is our best defence against the virus. The vaccine is highly effective and it is currently being rolled out across Birmingham to priority groups. Throughout February 2021 there will be five online Q&A sessions which will allow the public to ask any questions they may have about the vaccination.  On the panel will be the Birmingham & Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group, local representatives and Councillor Paulette Hamilton, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care.

It is strongly recommended that people attend the session that is relevant to where they live, as some of the information in the webinar will be localised:

  • Mental Health Week - Feel good about being YOU!

    Mon 01 Feb 2021

This week is Children's Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is 'Express Yourself'. Organisers, Place2Be, say that this is 'not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself'.

We all can feel worried, anxious or upset at times.  Sometimes it is because of a big change in our lives or it might be that the pressures of every day life can get to us.  If you are feeling like this, take a look at this page:
