Setting Description

Write a setting based on the image of a starry sky. In your description you should: 

- use adverbials of place

- use expanded noun phrases

- use a character to demonstrate emotions. 

- use relative clauses to add detail to your subjects. 

- use vivid vocabulary to grip your reader.

Challenge - Can your setting description end with a cliffhanger? 

Narrative Challenge

Write the opening of a narrative inspired by the mysterious door in the forest.
Your writing should build suspense, describe the setting, and introduce a main character approaching the door.

Aim to write at least one detailed paragraph, using ambitious vocabulary and varied sentence structures.

Consequence Writing

Write a short story that shows how one small event leads to another, building tension and atmosphere.
Pupils should focus on:

• Descriptive setting
• Cause and effect
• Emotion and atmosphere
• Varied sentence openers
• Figurative language (simile, metaphor, personification)
