Lesson 3

Hot and Cold Areas of the World - complete the fact file
Research the following headings on the worksheet, and write some answers

e.g.

Cold Places

Cold places are usually found near the North Pole (the Arctic) and the South Pole (Antarctica). These areas are far away from the equator, so they do not get much sunlight. The sun stays low in the sky, which means it cannot warm the land very well. That is why these places stay cold all year round.

Hot Places

Hot places are usually found near the equator, which is an imaginary line around the middle of the Earth. These areas get the most sunlight, and the sun shines directly on them. This makes the land very warm, and these places often have hot weather every day.
