Descriptive Writing Activity: The Magic Book World

Starter (Talk First – 5 minutes)

Look at the picture

  • What do you notice first?

  • Where do you think this book has come from?

  • If you could jump inside the book, what might you see, hear or feel?

  • Is this a happy, peaceful or mysterious place? Why?

 

Imagine this book is magic and opens into another world.
Your job is to describe what it is like inside the book so the reader can picture it clearly.

 

You could describe:

The green, grassy side of the book

The rocky, dry side of the book

The waterfall flowing out of the pages

The sky, clouds and rainbow

Who or what might live there
